Jupiter - Gorey
The dramatic rise in building costs in Dublin’s sprawling suburbs drove a population increase in this seaside town of 44% between 1996 and 2002, prompting a deluge of new housing and business opportunities. Formerly Jumping Jack’s, Jupiter had been an intimate and traditional club that traded successfully for four years alongside an upstairs late bar for the over 25’s.
The client wanted McNally to revitalize his operation with a €750,000 investment to create a high impact nightclub for the bull’s eye target of 18-24 year olds. McNally’s design concept increased the venue capacity from 500 to 700 breaking up the traditional layout with balustrades demarcating several dance and bar areas embracing a semi-circular DJ box. Extra-terrestrial theming combines strategically with intense lighting, illuminated lava columns, arresting sci-fi designs and Jovian inspired colours to create a spot on, targeted, world class clubbing venue.
