Mcnally Design International has worked with Ritz Carlton before in Ireland, but for this project we were approached by the Royal family of Bahrain to develop a Ritz Carlton Resort on a man made island. MDI’s past hospitality resort design experience showed the Bahrain Royal Family that they would deliver on every level of expectations. MDI designed the resort so that it could be used by hotel guests as well as outside visitors by creating a walk around the water front which hosts many food and beverage concepts such as a chocolateria, a steak house and an Irish Pub. The hotel also has private rooms which look onto the water and a sea water pool.

MDI Responsibility – Architecture, Interior, MEP, FF&E, Site Supervision.

Mcnally Design International was responsible for the architecture, interior design and FF&E for the Bvlgari Hotel set to begin construction early 2012. As with all MDI jobs, full site supervision support will be provided to the project management team throughout the duration of the job to ensure budgets and quality are adhered to. With MDI’s experience in hospitality it allowed the client to have a one stop shop option where MDI took on the over all design including Food and Beverage, Spa, meeting and conference rooms, retail, bedrooms and public areas not to mention the Sky pool with a view like no other in Bahrain.

MDI responsibilities for this project have included and will continue to include architecture, interiors, MPE, FF&E and site supervision.

McNally Design International has carried out many residential projects from master planning, stand alone tower blocks, smaller scale villas and palaces. These two towers were conceptual towers for residential living in the Middle East. Both towers will include a spa, health and fitness club, pool, retail, food and beverage outlets as well as luxurious apartment living.

MDI involvement for these projects has included architecture, interior design, MEP, FF&E and site supervision.

Fadó is unique in that it was constructed in Dublin and then shipped to Miami for assembly at our Mary Brickell location. Irish pubs have always been the social center for their communities, and Fadó continues that fine Irish tradition.

The Irish Pub Company has done it again, come in for a pint!

The Irish Pub Company is proud to announce their 14th Fado opening in Miami’s downtown Fadó, pronounced f’doe, is the Irish expression meaning “long ago”. The term was commonly used as the preface of old Irish stories told by the Seanchaí (Shana-kee) or storyteller. At Fadó we are telling the story of Ireland’s rich and celebrated pub culture. It is a culture of hospitable surroundings, good food and good drink, and friendly conversation- what we call “craic” (prounced “crack”).

Fadó is unique in that it was constructed in Dublin and then shipped to Miami for assembly at our Mary Brickell location. The Irish Pub Company is responsible for the creation of the Fado Brand and continues to stay ahead of their competitors as the worlds leading Irish Pub Company.

The Dusit Dubai is a well known architectural iconic five-star hotel with the exterior look of giant tuning fork. Located on Sheikh Zayed Road in central Dubai, it combines the latest in luxury with traditional Thai hospitality. McNally Design Dubai completed architectural design and project supervision for the lobby, mezzanine floor, bar, coffee area and prayer rooms.

The design and business challenges were to give the property a more intimate Thai ambience and increase revenues. McNally Design added two boardrooms and created different break out areas and adaptable rooms for large groups.

The lobby is designed for efficient circulation with visual cues of water and planting providing a soothing ambience. A large water fountain cascades beside dramatic circular seats with three meter high lights.

The reception and lobby are a dramatic fusion of modern and Thai influences. The bar “My Bar” is a piano bar with a difference in that the piano actually forms part of the bar counter which embraces the piano’s classical baby grand curves.

Once the Moriarty Group forecast a niche market demand for a business hotel with a commercial advantage, they called McNally in to review the potential for what was voted the most romantic hotel in Ireland. The Leixlip Hotel set on the River Liffey was set to take advantage of western Dublin urban expansion. It had local demand and was a great tourism attraction.

In the early 1800’s the building was a Guinness family home complete with stone outhouses and courtyards. The new architecture needed to be sympathetic with the period yet functional and exciting in the expression of the bars, restaurants and VIP rooms. The function rooms and business centre had to have discreet hi tech facilities.

A two-floor restaurant took advantage of the views along the river and a link courtyard to the main building.

Double height glazing contrasts with the structure of the old style trusses. The success was to close in the courtyard and create another welcoming access from Leixlip town centre. The centre space became the catalyst for exterior dining and breakout spaces.

New architectural entrance statements for the foyer, restaurants, function suites and bars were created in a modern style but with traditional lead and zinc dressing. These contrast with the reinstated old stone details and roofing features.

Two different bars provide a historical visual link to the Guinness heritage home. The first expressed in the joinery and pewter used in the process of distilling. The second bar was based on the entertainment offer of a platform raised bar with seating under a daylight ceiling and a skylight of stained glass.

McNally Design Group was responsible for the planning and building control drawings, conservation architecture, interior architecture and project management and fitout.

The hotel is a resounding commercial success thanks to local and business community patronage and it received the accolade as being the most romantic hotel in Ireland in 2006. Project value was €6 million.

Our brief was for design and fit out of function and meeting rooms, bars, restaurant and foyer for a new €20million, 59 bedroom hotel of 7,000 square metres located in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Carlingford Lough and the Cooley Peninsula. The Four Seasons Hotel offers service and culinary excellence, first class accommodation, extensive leisure facilities and a uniquely friendly atmosphere.

Large areas of glazing to the function block leading to balconies which take advantage of the views of Carlingford Village and Lough. Dramatic stonework in the main bar mimics the dry stone walls of the local fields and a rich mix of mosaics, vibrant coloured tiles and hardwoods feature as a welcoming note in the floors embracing the bar itself.

Our brief was to create a World class Hair Salon in the Dubai World Trade Centre that appeals to an international and local up market audience.

The concept was a clearly branded ‘international feel’ salon that invites curious passing traffic to view more of what’s on offer inside. A dramatic shop front and externally visible reception area features double height display cabinetry combined with sheer glass, natural stone and water. World class modern comfortable seating provides an international fashion look for this premium hair stylist.

Our brief was to create a high end premium priced shoe brand and retail shop for Sharjah’s latest Mall. The selling price was almost double competitive offerings.

The brand concept – A Piedi – An ‘almost familiar’ world class brand name and store design. An Italian inspired name and ultra modern, cutting edge retail outlet design which exudes all the attributes of a Milan high Street, international designer outlet. The outlet dazzles through the use of sheer glass, black and white interiors and compelling see-through visual merchandising from store front to back of shop.

Our responsibilities: To create a concept for the new terminal at Abu Dhabi airport.

MDI designed the terminal specifically with the travelers’ needs in mind. The visually striking design has made maximum use of natural daylight allowing the space to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere. Not only have we used natural light to its maximum but we have also provided striking vertical gardens within the terminal.

As always passenger movement is a fundamental aspect of the design development process. The curvaceous, fluid forms provide an iconic welcoming to Abu Dhabi.

Dublin’s oldest restaurant gets the McNally touches of design and commercial
success. McNally Design International was commissioned to redesign the interior of Beaufield Mews, Dublin’s oldest restaurant.

The buildings, which date back to the 18th century, have been completely rejuvenated. The project brief required the original historic features to be enhanced with contemporary colours, furnishings and tones in order to re-energise the business and its landmark buildings. The result is a warm and inviting 21st century restaurant with all of its 18th century charm and quality sensitively protected and enhanced.

The commercial focus of the restaurant business is to cater for functions and larger parties, but also to attract many more casual and regular diners.

A greater emphasis on wine expertise and choice was incorporated into the décor. The`Mews’ had to remain a friendly, warm and personal place, and therefore a rich welcoming interior was a pre-requisite. Antiques had to form an important part of the design and a few valued pieces of stained glass were incorporated into the final fit out. The result is a dramatic translation of the client’s brief both in design terms and commercial goals.

Joe Blacks is a simply breathtaking triumph in conservation architecture, design and original inspiration. McNally Design International liked so many of its original features they decided to highlight many of them in the finished venue – such as the bank vault door, which remains open, permanently!

Joe Blacks is the former home of Society for Savings Bank, dating back from 1893 and what was once the main floor now consists of The Modern Bar appointed with a classic fireplace (designed as a great place to have lunch in the afternoon and to meet after work for cocktails); The Victorian and Mid-Victorian Dining Rooms are richly appointed and offer a more formal dining experience; The Cottage Pub (a warm and cozy pub, in a traditional Irish setting) and The Society Room – a unique and historic venue for corporate events, weddings or celebration.

Las Vegas – ‘America’s greatest Irish Pub of all time’

The task set by MGM was challenging and multi-faceted. We were asked not only to design the greatest Irish pub of all time in the USA, but to research and create a memorable brand name and identity that had its roots deep in Irish culture and history and then execute the brand iconography and create its environment. Having created the brand and the architecture, we were again challenged by MGM to macro manage and operate the venue and be responsible for its ultimate success.

At the outset, we knew we would be creating a brand and building a venue with a turnover of at least of 5 to 7 million US dollars. What we created finally was a success that MGM could only gasp at – $10 million turnover rising to $14 million in year two! McNally Design worked closely with the marketing & operational teams at MGM and designed and built within time and budget what was to become the largest and most successful Irish pub in the U.S.A. – all at a challenging location on the Vegas strip.

The story behind the brand creation was that of nine great Irish revolutionaries sent down by the British system after they launched a revolt. Their sentence commuted to exile, they became nine great Irish men – senators and governors in America and Australia. The venue featuring the best of modern Irish cuisine and entertainment imported to the USA by the McNally Design Group, hosts two fantastic bars and an external patio onto the strip.

Our brief from Alshaya was to create a non-alcohol Middle Eastern foods
restaurant. The design is totally Middle Eastern influenced to appeal to
tourists and local consumers in each market.

All materials were researched and sourced locally and designed to be true to
local cultural influences. Uniforms were selected by McNally and Alshaya.
All collaterals conforming to mutually agreed brand guidelines and local
custom.

The brief was to design and build a non-alcoholic Middle Eastern venue – a fish restaurant with unique and memorable consumer experiences.

Totally Fish is a fish market themed restaurant which has fish displayed so that it is selected by customers and weighed. The weight is shouted out and all servers answer with a shout, just like the markets before it is cooked and served.

The restaurant was designed and built off site. McNally created a fish market atmosphere, complete with weighing scales, crates, fresh fish, self-selection and a fresh juice bar.

The 12 screen, Movies@Dundrum, introduces a new brand of cinemas to the market. McNally Design International, McBuild and the Movies@ management team worked closely together for several years to realize the Movies@ venues, the first in Ireland to offer unique VIP and Children’s Zones. The venues offer super-deluxe seating and a specially designed VIP lounge.

The project has been conceived as a complete experience, from the moment of approach, through to leaving, from the flooring, through to the signage, lighting and food service facilities. Everything has been blended to provide a dramatic, yet warm and inviting leisurely night out.

The brief was to deliver a new 108 covers fusion restaurant in The World Trade Centre in Dubai around a full day-part trading clock to attract visitors and exhibitors looking for a coffee or lunchtime break away from the intensity of the number of trade shows and exhibitions hosted in Dubai.

We had to create a concept that would allow guests to become totally absorbed in. Lighting creates the mood. The lighting gives a complete and variable colour wash to the venue. Hundreds of fibre optic lights dramatise sheer fabric drapes on the walls, the glass floor, recesses in the walls, back bar, mirrored glass wall and front bar surface.

Other features include swing chairs suspended on wire ropes, a glass floor and ultra chic contemporary sofas. Lotus One is now a Dubai landmark restaurant.

The lovely Bía Bar forms part of the Drury Court Hotel, located close to Grafton Street in Dublin’s city centre. In its recent refurbishment, its owners not only wanted to create a multi-functional bar and bistro that would serve the hotel’s diverse clientele, but one that would attract a steady passing trade.

They brought in McNally Design to design and build a space that was comfortable and funky, equally suited to an afternoon snack or an evening drink. With the help of some clever lighting, the atmosphere in each section evolves from day through evening and into late night. Meanwhile, the quirky features in each of its wonderfully different areas encourages customers to explore, giving a different experience every time they visit.

McNally Design International, has just completed the redesign and fit out of all the public areas in the departure terminal of Cork International Airport.

McNally Design and its sister company, McBuild, were responsible for the total design and installation of the Jack Lynch VIP centre and lounge, Food Courts, bars, restaurants and coffee outlets.

Its branding consultancy department designed all graphics, logos and signage throughout the departure terminal. The project is believed to have cost in the region of €5.8m and took six months to complete.

The contemporary designed Thady Quill Sports Bar took its influences from other local references including well-known local sporting celebrities.

The renowned historical English Market in Cork city influenced the central design theme of the Food Market and its grand entrance of dramatic double height scale large decorative metal gates. The market space is defined by a series of traditional wooden arches on decorative steel columns, leading to the food service area, which is crowned by a decorative metalwork dome. The theme behind the Red Bar is a celebration of Cork and Munster’s great sporting traditions and heroes in Hurling, Gaelic Football, Athletics, Soccer, Rugby.

The wonderfully inviting “Maher’s Coffee” and “Lir Café” outlets features decorative awnings above a timber coffee counter topped with warm golden honey colour granite, complimenting the flooring.

The Jack Lynch Business Lounge is a contemporary modern lounge and meeting facility designed to provide the business traveller with a tranquil, peaceful and pleasant hi tech space to relax in while waiting on flights. Lounge seating comprises sumptuous leather sofas and contemporary wing chairs upholstered in burgundies, purples and olive and muted lime greens.

The construction challenge was to work in a busy Airport environment where onerous health and safety compliance was necessary and strict rules of contractual procedures and coordination with the airport authority were applied throughout the six months. McBuild led the team of architects, mechanical and electrical, cost management and food and beverage consultants.

The challenge – to create a restaurant & music venue with a difference in a brown stone listed building. The venue needed to evoke the youthfulness and staying power of U2. Vertigo was born – a 3 floor over basement design that evokes the rock ethos. With wrap around floors which performance & stage areas form in theatre style to create an awesome experience of vertical and dramatic open space.

In keeping with the building’s history, balconies and staircases were dressed with newly manufactured railings and balustrades of cast pewter and aluminum, inspired by the art deco period. To fit out the interiors with art and art deco sculptures, chandeliers, seating, floor and wall treatments in mosaics and cast iron fire places; McNally used their network to source from Asia, India, USA, Ireland & Eastern Europe.

Design development with a corporate identity of the biggest pension and investment bank in Ireland, at the time, The brand was a modern design, control reception for 3000 daily users and conference and meeting facilities for the public, It included the corporate boardroom and the staff dining halls, A second office for the retail handling of deposits and customer relations.

Is the foremost nite club BRAND in the UK. Created as a multiple destination venue under one roof.

The concept in which Mcnally Design Group created the mix of themes started with a DAY-PART AFTER WORK BAR. Once captured you were enticed to stay all night. From this bar a customer could dine or party in the adjacent restaurant. Lunch in the same venue as a bistro offer, or coffee chill out on the deli bar.

After work time moved on into various themed bars. Dance space as opposed to dance floor was designed into the flow and a cascading staircase took you up to the venue proper.

McNally’s were the architects, the interior architects and handled all the building control, licensing and project management of this multi million sterling concept.
